2010 SciFi Expo in Dallas

I had a great time at the Con. Met some great people, did some commissions and sold some art. It seemed like everyone there had a great time. It's a small con, but they had a pretty great guest list. I got to meet Cindy Morgan (Yori from Tron, Lacey from Caddyshack), Deep Roy (Keenser in the last Star Trek movie, All the Oompa Loompas in Tim Burtons Willy Wonka) and Roger Christian (set designer/decorator for the Star Wars movies and Alien.

Yori and the SciFi Expo

Yes! (Yori Print), originally uploaded by manlyartjpc.
Here's a pin-up I made of Yori from Tron. I guess I was in an 80's zone last night. It definitely has that Patrick Nagel feel to it. The bit floating above her hand says "Yes!". :)

If you like it, prints are available in my online store, The Manly Art Shop.

I will also have prints with me at the SciFi Expo in Richardson, TX this weekend. I have a table in the small press area. I'll also have other swag available and will be taking commissions. I hope to see you there!

P.S.- Cindy Morgan, who played Yori in Tron, will be signing autographs at the Expo. How cool would it be to get her to sign one of my prints? Really cool! You should totally do it!

Super Punch! Knight of Swords Tarot Card

This is my Knight of Swords tarot card for Super Punch!. John has invited artists to each do one card from the tarot deck.

Here's the original acrylic painting...

Here's the "Knight" type design separated out...

I believe he is looking into getting the deck printed at some point. Also, there will be an art show at the Bear and Bird Boutique + Gallery in Lauderhill, FL next March.

You can see most of the cards for the deck over at the Endless Deck. (not all of the cards shown are for the Super Punch deck, but I think he denotes which ones are)

Pulp Adventure...

Pulp Adventure..., originally uploaded by manlyartjpc.
This is a book cover illustration I just finished. I can't really give any details right now, but it's a pulp-era adventure. It will ultimately be layed out like a vintage adventure magazine cover.

Hope you like it! I'll post more as the project progresses.

This is a test of the iPad blogging system...

I'm trying out an iPad/iPhone app called BlogPress. I like it so far.
Here's a little treat for all you early technology adopters out there.

(You should be able to click the image for the full size wallpaper. FYI- The full size is 1024x1024)

*worked pretty well. The original image formatting was a little wonky, but that was probably user error. :)
** oh yeah, that's an iPad wallpaper btw. :P

Mohagan: Star Wars.

Mohagan: Star Wars., originally uploaded by manlyartjpc.
My buddy Kennon draws this really great comic strip called "Mohagan".
It's about a goldfish.
In a bowl.
Believe it, or not, it's hysterical. So, I decided to do a little fan art for the strip. This is the two main characters, Mohagan and Grady (a skull in the fish tank), as C-3PO and R2-D2. I thought it kind of fit their personalities. Any way, Kennon got a kick out of it, so mission accomplished! Woohoo!

Check out Mohagan at http://www.needcomics.com/Mohagen/.
It's a good read.
