Adolescent James Bond

Adolescent James Bond, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

Holy crap! A post that has absolutely nothing to do with custom vinyl toys!

This was a commission I recently completed. This guys son is completely obsessed with James Bond and he asked me to do a portrait of his son in a 007 movie poster style. I went with the look from "Dr. No".

11"x14" Ink on watercolor paper.

FYI- I'm currently taking commissions. If you're interested, you can find more info HERE.

Earthworm Jim Mega Munny

Earthworm Jim Mega Munny, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

This is the last of the customs I did for the Vinyl Thoughts 2 art show. It's an Earthworm Jim Mega Munny. This thing is HUGE. It's at least 2 feet tall. It fought me the whole way, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I went through 4 bricks of Super Sculpey modifying this sucker.

Lego Mega Man Custom

Lego Mega Man Custom, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

This is the Mega Man Lego Torch I customized for the Vinyl Thoughts 2 art show. The Lego torch came with LEDs in the feet and I wired in a third LED for the arm canon. I also sculpted the helmet and added gels to give the lights a reddish glow.

This is currently available in my Manly Art Shop. You can check it out HERE.

Zork A Drive

This a Squid Kids Ink A Drive I customized for the Vinyl Thoughts 2 art show.

Zork was the first computer (not game console) game I ever played. A friend that lived across the street had a computer with a modem (the kind you plugged a telephone handset into) and access to the MIT BBS. I loved this game.

It is now available in the Manly Art Shop. You can check it out HERE.

Droid Quest Custom 10-Doh!

Droid Quest Custom 10-Doh!, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

Here's another piece I did for the Vinyl Thoughts 2 art show. This is a Squid Kids 10-Doh! that I installed the guts of a 1st gen iPhone into. It acts as an iPod and plays a custom video game animation I made in Flash.

I hope to see you at the show tonight!

This is the Frogger custom Jumping Brain I did for the Vinyl Thoughts 2 Art Show. Yes, those are little cars and trucks driving on his brain.

I also did custom packaging for this one.

LX Forums Tee Design

LX Forums Tee Design, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

This is a t-shirt/poster design I did for LX Forums. They wanted something reminiscent of the Death Proof poster from Grindhouse. They'll have the shirts with them for the LX Spring Fest 7 in Irvine, CA. The featured car on the design is a Chrysler 300 SRT8.

The car is brush and ink, the rest is digital.

Super Mario Yelp! 10 Doh

This is the Yelp! sponsored 10 Doh I did for the Vinyl Thoughts 2 Art Show. They will be raffling it off at the show.

Space Labbit Sticker

Space Labbit Sticker, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

I just ordered some stickers tonight! I'll be handing these out at the Vinyl Thoughts 2 Art Show. If you want one, come to the show and say "Hi", 'cause thats the only way you're getting one. :)

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, but I've been swamped getting customs ready for the show and we aren't supposed to show them off before then. There are a few I did for Bean Pot Toys that I can share, but I'm waiting until we get closer to the show.

Vinyl Thoughts Online Store

Vinyl Thoughts Online Store, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

Hey Kids! The Vinyl Thoughts 2 show has an online store now! You can get posters, a t-shirt and a shot at an AWESOME limited edition Motorbot resin figure!

My Labbit Invaders is one of 5 must-have posters available in the shop. The t-shirt by Sleepy Dan is also one you're not going to want to miss.

Stickers!

Stickers!, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

A couple of stickers that should be arriving in the next week or two. Not sure if I'm going to sell them, or just include them with orders from my online store. Probably the latter.

R2 Series Print

R2 Series Print, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

The R2 series astromech droid from Industrial Automaton is hands-down one of the toughest, well built astromech droids ever produced. With hundreds of configurations available, the R2 series is a mainstay on spacecraft from pleasure cruisers to star fighters.

This great 8.5"x11" archival print will look great in any room of the house!

You can purchase a print HERE.

Kaylee Pin-Up, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

This is my pin-up of Kaylee from Firefly. I did it like the old garage pin-up girls. The calendar is actually how the days will fall in February 2517.

Available as a print HERE.

I will also have these with me at the Sci-Fi Expo this weekend in Irving, TX. Jewel Staite will be there, so pick one up and get her to sign it!

10 with Taff...

The lovely Taffeta Darling interviewed me over at Alien Bee!

Vinyl Thoughts 2 Poster

Vinyl Thoughts 2 Poster, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

This is my second Vinyl Thoughts 2 poster/flyer design. It's based on a Sears Tele-Games instruction manual I found at my Mom's house. The art is a little vinyl-ized homage to the old Space Invaders cartridge art. (Oh, and if you can't tell, it's a video game themed show.)

The Vinyl Thoughts 2 show is March 15, 2012 in Dallas, TX. It should be a great show! There are some fantastic artists in the line-up. More info HERE.

Vinyl Thoughts 2 Flyer/Poster

Vinyl Thoughts 2 Flyer/Poster, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

The guys running the VT2 custom toy show encouraged the artists to come up with poster designs for the show. This is mine. I might do another if I have time.

It should be a great show. You can find out more here:

1978 Dynamite Bio

1978 Dynamite Bio, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

I'm the featured artist today for the Vinyl Thoughts 2 art show coming up in March! I had a little fun with my bio and did a "Do's & Don'ts" feature from Dynamite magazine.

You can see the whole thing HERE and learn more about what promises to be a great vinyl art show!

(Yes, that is really me rockin' it on a skateboard circa 1978, color Polaroid after the jump)

3PO Series Print

3PO Series Print, a photo by Manly Art on Flickr.

The 3PO series protocol droid from Cybot Galactica is one of the best etiquette and protocol droids ever produced. Fluent in over 6 million forms of communication, it is a mainstay in the best households.

This cute 8.5"x11" archival print will look great in any room of the house!
