Howdy folks! Sorry I haven't been posting for a couple of weeks, but I took a (much needed) two week vacation to Italy. I'm heading to Comic-Con next week, so posts may be a little infrequent until I return. But, I'll make it up to you. I promise!

As I'm wrapping up the final pieces for my show this week, I thought I'd just post little sneak peeks of some of the finished art. I want there to be a few surprises opening night. I will say that this one definitely falls under the "Mayhem" part of the show, sprinkled with a little doom. And it involves guinea pigs. Mean ones.

Child of Doom

Here's the final painting based on the sketch I posted previously. I used a reference photo I shot downtown (check the location tag to see where) for the setting to give it some atmosphere. This is the first time I've ever painted buildings, so it was a fun challenge. I'm pretty happy with how it came out overall.

Well, It's that time of year again. Here's this years t-shirt design for the annual Huns RFC Bloodfest Sevens tournament in Austin, TX. This year I decided to take a little break from the rugby pin-up girls and show the true nature of rugby. To quote my dad... "I went to a fight the other day and a rugby game broke out.".

I was on the Red Line this morning and saw this woman. I thought she had an interesting face at first. Then she started to seem familiar. Then, it hit me! She was a dead ringer for Roz from Monsters, Inc.. I think it's pretty uncanny.

Duro

Here's another mini painting. This one is of a Duro from the cantina scene in Star Wars. This piece will be part of my Oh No! Doom show in late June.

Oh No! Doom!

Here's a drawing for my show at Oh No! Doom. The opening reception will be June 27th. If the guys at the gallery like it, this may get made into a print for the show.

BatMun Noir

Rotofugi had a really fun event Sunday. Kid Robot supplied a bunch of free Munny Mobiles and they had a "Mini Munny Mobile Decorating Party" that was free and open to anyone. This is my Adam West era Batman. It took me about 2.5 hours. It was a lot of fun being around so many people creating at the same time. Thanks Kirby!

This weeks Austin Sketch Squad theme was "France". While, yes, my first thought was "French maid, oolala", I thought I'd do a drawing of one of France's most famous, if not notorious, actresses.

The theme for this weeks Austin Sketch Squad challenge was "Disguise". I was feeling a little goofy tonight, so I drew a squid in disguise. A squid who apparently has a flair for the vaudevillian.

Samson & Delilah

This is my painting for the Old Testament part of "An Art Show of Biblical Proportions" happening in Austin Easter weekend. I treated it like a cover for a pulp novel. So many of the stories in the Old Testament would make great pulp stories.

Sol Finkelstein was a smut publisher who found God later in life. While he had a change of heart, he didn't know how to change careers, so he came up with a compromise. Pulp stories based on the Bible. This surprisingly successful series was called "The Torrid Torah- Sultry Tales from the Bible".
