Quick Update...

I just got back from Wizard World Texas. I had a great time with the crew from Austin Books & Comics. I got to see a bunch of friends and catch up with those I hadn't seen in a while. My über cool geek moment of the day was meeting Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrel) from Battlestar Galactica which, by the way, if you aren't watching, you really should. It is seriously the best show on TV, hands down. Anyway... he's a really nice, down-to-earth guy and I really enjoyed visiting with him. He hinted that the season finale is a complete jaw-dropper, but wouldn't say more. Enough said. Here's a slightly blurry photo of my geek moment...

The Ultimates...

I was recently steered towards The Ultimates. It's a great comic. I've gone through the first two trades in as many days. For those not familiar with it, it's an updated retelling of the formation of The Avengers. The art is top notch, it's a great story, and I highly recommend picking it up.

As a result, I was in the mood to draw super heroes when I was sketching with some friends last night. Nothing too terribly exciting, but here you go.

Here's a WWII era Captain America.

Can you tell I was getting punchy around the time I drew the Hulk?

Yarrrr!

I recently did some pirate-type art for Austin Books & Comics here in Austin. They're having their big sale later this month and they wanted a pirate theme. So, I came up with a pirate map of the store and their very own Jolly Roger. They're making t-shirts with the Jolly Roger and also a 5'x8' flag for the store. The flag's going to be really cool. Enough words. Here's some art!

I'm a winner!

Woohoo! I actually won a little contest. And for caption writing, no less. Who'd a thunk it? Go on over to Michael Cho's blog and check it out. He's a really talented Canadian artist. be sure to check out his other stuff while you're there.

Oh, and he's also got a really entertaining Iron Man blog here... Tony Stark: Your go to guy.

SuperRad Foo Dog...

I commissioned my friend Melly to make me one of her famous Foo Dogs. I got it today. It is all kinds of awesome! This bad boy is just shy of 4 feet long from paw to tail. Feel free to drool.

Crazy Bug...

*Update*
Apparently its a Sweat Bee. Kinda cool, huh. Thanks to Webwawa for sleuthing it out.

Check this thing out. It was on my driver-side window this morning. At first, I thought it was a fly, but it has a body more like a bee. It also doesn't have a fly's suction mouth thingy. It had things more like pincers. Any guesses? I haven't seen anything quite like it.

Halloween Closing...

Well, Christopher and I had our show closing party Sunday night. It was fun. Some people dressed up, some ice cream was eaten, and a good time was had by all. Here are a few pics for your viewing pleasure...

From left to right are: Me and Christopher as Brock Sampson and The Sherrif, Steve, Anne & Bill as Tigger, Party Girl & a REALLY Ugly Nun :), Joe as a Spooky Dead Gentleman, and Melly as the scurvey, yet lovely, Dredd Redd.
